The W.E. Skeleton 4H Educational Conference Center in Wirtz, Va. works to provide dynamic, research-based, hands-on learning experiences for 4-H youth, other youth, and adults that will enable them to become self-directed, contributing, and productive members of society. Lumber Liquidators partnered with the Center to donate approximately 12,000 square feet of flooring to the non-profit at Smith Mountain Lake in Wirtz, Va., to aid in its mission of improving its local communities for future generations.

The Center has served youth since 1966 and is among one of America’s leading 4-H Centers. The wood-look vinyl plank flooring was installed in several areas currently being renovated, including classrooms, meeting spaces and housing. The upgrades will enable the W.E. Skelton 4-H Center to offer year-round programming.

“This donation from Lumber Liquidators helps us create a safe environment that enriches and positively impacts our community,” said Roger Ellmore, Executive Director of W.E. Skelton 4-H Center. “Now we can reallocate funds we had set aside for flooring and invest those dollars directly in the kids.”

Lumber Liquidators supports W.E. Skelton 4-H Center through its philanthropic program, Lay It Forward. The guiding principle of Lay It Forward is benefitting the well being of generations to come, a vision that also drives the enduring quality and sustainability of Lumber Liquidators’ products. Installing a hardwood floor is an investment by homeowners – it lasts for years and grows in character as an element of a home’s beauty. By supporting the Lay It Forward program now, Lumber Liquidators believes its investment will have a similar and lasting impact.

Tom Sullivan, Founder and acting Chief Executive Officer, commented, “It is an honor to support the W.E. Skelton 4-H Center, which has helped improve its community for nearly 50 years. Supporting this legacy was a natural fit for our Lay It Forward program.”
