PRBAMTMVC - Vertical Carbonized 5/8" x 2" x 6LFT Bamboo T-Molding Prefinished

Used as a transition piece from one flooring to another of equal height or to gain expansion spaces.

Carbonized
Carbonized is a process of actually steaming the bamboo in a giant bath and heating up the sugar in the bamboo. The sugar caramelizes and turns it brown creating the darker color. It is not a topically applied stain, it is caramelized.

It gave my bamboo flooring a great finished look. Lumber Liquidator carries this in 6 foot length, which made my job so much easier in tieing two floors together. I am sure glad we now have a Lumber Liquidator in town. It sure make my flooring job so much easier.

I am installing a caramelized strand bamboo floor that is a medium Maple color. What should I choose for the T-moldings and stair toes? It is difficult to determine the colors available on my computer screen and I am not near one of you stores.

I have to install a couple of stranded bamboo T-molding and reducers. As they appear to be nail-down installation, what size nail do you recommend? I realize that I will need to predrill the hole to prevent splitting.

                            A:

Installing T-Molding between bamboo floor and of another floor the same height - Lay the T-Molding in place to determine proper fit. To attach the T-Molding between the two floors, apply a 1/4 inch bead of construction adhesive to the top edge on the hardwood floor. Seat the molding in place, making sure that you have a minimum of a 1/4 inch molding overlap on the adjacent floor. Allow for manufacturers recommended expansion space.

For floating bamboo flooring; T-molding for this type of floor does not come with a u-track as with some floating laminate floors. You can use a urethane adhesive in a caulking tube and apply a thick bead of adhesive directly to the subfloor and sit the molding in place allowing the bottom of the T-molding to sit into the adhesive. Apply weights on top of the molding until the adhesive cures. If the bottom of the molding does not reach the subfloor, cut a shim and glue it to the bottom of the t-molding and once cured glue the whole piece to the subfloor.
