Virginia Mill Works Co.- 3/4" x 5" Bell County Hickory Prefinished Handscraped Solid Flooring- 30 Year Warranty

Colonial American homes were built with wooden floors that were sawn using basic hand-held tools. The hand-crafted workmanship that went into those floors can be found in Virginia Mill Works handscraped floors.

About Handscraped Flooring:
Handscraped or distressed hardwood floors have a natural worn appearance. They look like floors from the days when floors were finished by hand.
Please note this product is a nominal 3/4" thick, but due to its scraping process the thickness may be as thin as 5/8" in the scraped areas.

  • Q:

is this product compatible with radiant Wall heaters?
Asked on 9/29/2015 by Rick from Chicago

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

As long as the flooring and heater clearances are correct and the flooring does not overheat. For best performance, condition and maintain the flooring to consistent indoor temperatures of 60°-80° F and indoor humidity levels of 30% - 50%, before, during and after installation. Depending on your local conditions the use of a dehumidifier or a humidifier may be necessary to maintain the desired results.

We have 2 large dogs. Will this flooring be durable with pets?
Asked on 2/20/2015 by Matt from Nashville, TN

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.

  • Q:

I just had the bell county hickory handscraped hardwood installed and the installer mentioned that I may need to put a particluar padding down before I put down an area rug so the hardwood doesn't discolor, is this true and if so, what padding do I need to use?
Asked on 10/8/2014 by Kristen from Nazareth, PA

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

When using area rugs, use a rug pad with a felt, plant or PVC based backing. DO NOT use area rugs with a petroleum based rubber backing (typically black) as this can cause permanent chemical staining/etching of the floor finish.
