        Comments about 48" Birch Tread:

Some of the boards were stored at the warehouse and came marked with black streaks and dirty. Had to sand them to get it all off. Other than that they were very good and we were able to match the Golden Sierra Birch stain on the rest of the floor.

when you consider strand bamboo vs. engineered vertical bamboo,

          1) which product holds up better if you spill something on the floor?

          2) which product is stronger?

            A:

Both are equal as far as spills. Strand bamboo is much harder and dent resistant.

Can this product be sanded and refinished?

            A:

Bamboo flooring may be screened or sanded like hardwood. It being a grass product, you should find a refinished experienced with bamboo. Go to WWW.NWFACP.ORG and click on sand and finisher and then type in a zip code or city/state. These are NWFA certified installers and finishers. As with any company you should check their credentials before hiring.

what is the hardness rating of this product? Is it dog proof for 45 lb dogs?

            A:

            Janka rating = 3000.
There is no natural flooring that is "dog proof".
Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.

            FLOATING FLOOR INSTRUCTIONS
            Edge-gluing
The SCHön Quick Clic floor is designed with a locking system along the side and end edges. However wider boards will not have a locking system on the shorter ends to facilitate installation. Therefore it is recommended to add glue to these board ends during installation to minimize end-gapping or separation. Glue should also be added to all sides of fill-in boards placed next to walls. Note that seasonal gapping is normal in wood flooring and does not constitute a product failure. Seasonal gapping can be minimized by the acclimation recommendations provided on page 1.
You can find complete installation instructions on the product page by clicking on the specs tab and then clicking on - Installation Guide.pdf

a stranded bamboo however is much harder and will hold up best.

            A:

This comes with a factory finish that is UV cured.
All wood species can change color over time due to oxidation or when exposed to light. In some species, the change can be more dramatic and may darken in color over time, while others tend to lighten. Currently there is no known value set for Patina or color change of a species so contractors and or customers should be aware of this normal condition. The patina process is unrelated to the urethane finishes.
