    Pros

    • Strong Adhesive

    Cons

    • Hard to clean up
    • Messy
    • Oozes up through the floor

    Best Uses

This stuff is time consuming to apply, and difficult to clean up. If you step in it, you will track it all over your floor. It would be just as east to just glue this floor down to the cement.

Worked great, just wish you could get a smaller amount for small jobs. Only had to glue down two 3' pieces of T-molding transition pieces between tile and carpet.

Used this product for solid bamboo hardwood application on stairs. I used Stair nosings and the tongue and groove planks on the treads. The palm cleat nailer came in handy for this application. The stair nosing was installed only with the adhesive as it had the groove and no tongue. I am very impressed with this product and will only use this in the future.

          • Q:

I am replacing one strip of my hardwood floor. I don't want to face nail it down as the nail holes would look ugly. Can I use Bostik Best Adhesive to glue the strip to subfloor, which is also hardwood?

              A:

The "Tack" time on BBA is 1.3 to 2 hours so this would not work very well on a vertical surface.

While we do not have any manufacturer's specifications on how to do ceiling or wall installations, we have had customers install on them using Tongue and Groove flooring. One method used is to ring shank or screw plywood first on the rafters/studs and then fasten flooring to plywood. Softer woods, lower profile (thinner), and engineered flooring would be easier to nail over your head.  Fastening can be done with finish nailers or hand nailing. Ring shank nails can hold better than standard finish nails.

Longer average lengths like you get with our pine flooring or v-groove pine can be locally sourced at a local mill or lumber yard can be nailed to rafters on 16" centers. 24" centers could require 1x3 strapping or plywood.

              A:

There are no quantative numbers for sq ftg for this adhesive cartridge because this is not made to be troweled out onto the floor. It will depend on what size trowel is used.
If a 1/4"x 1/4" x 1/8" trowel is used you will get approx. 3 sq ft per cartridge.

              Clean-up
As you work, immediately clean any adhesive from prefinished flooring with Bostik's Ultimate Adhesive Remover or mineral spirits (be careful not to harm
finish), then dry buff with a non-abrasive paper towel. Immediately clean all tools and equipment with Bostik's Ultimate Adhesive Remover or mineral spirits before material cures.

We have an engineered maple wood flooring with some boards popping up on the ends. We've seen a solution where we would drill tiny holes into the board, insert a glue into them with a syringe of sorts, and then weight the board down to dry. Is this the glue product to use for this type of repair?

I was told by L L to first lay down White Silicone Vapor Paper, then apply a few beads of Bostik Best Adhesive to the bottom of the 8" wide wood flooring and staple it in place.

My question is if the Silicone Vapor Paper provides the vapor seal and the staples provide the hold down strength, then what does the adhesive acomplish? The adhesive will secure the flooring to the paper but is there any advantage to that?
