I would buy Bellawood Red Oak flooring again.

By Loves wood

We removed carpet in our master bedroom and walk in closet to add oak flooring to match the rest of the upstairs floors. We were impressed with the quality of the finish and the strait boards. When we laid the oak flooring in the rest of the upstairs 13 years ago we used flooring from another company and there were more unusable boards due to warping.

Service and delivery comments:

We were pleased with the store in Lansing Michigan in regard to their attention to make sure we had the materials we needed to complete the job. They noticed that we had not ordered enough under layment and had it on hand for delivery. Only two boards were damaged from the strapping one the boxes marring an edge on the board.

Best Uses

BEST ADVICE....only put one strip down at a time. Add second strip only when flooring is at the edge. That avoids tears and all kinds of headaches.
Let me explain the instrallation better.....rubber side up, plastic "film" down. Put extra film side away from wall. Once ready for next strip, lay it out against first strip and on top of extra film (it will make sense when you see it). There is a strip covering some adhesive to remove which exposes some adhesive on the second strip. Once the second strip is laying in place, peel the adhesive strip off while pressing the 2 pieces together. I had someone pull the strip as I crawled across the floor pressing the 2 strips together (keeping them from moving). The adhesive part on the 2nd strip sticks to the extra film part of the first strip. you don't need extra tape or anything else. if you happen to double up on a spot or two, don't worry. I wouldn't say my installation was 100% perfect, but i don't have any raised spots or noises (make sure subfloor is ready- extra wood screws never hurt anything). Good luck!

    Makes installing very difficult

    By Greg

    from Gaithersburg Md

    Pros

      Cons

      • Wood does not slide over sound barrier material.

      Best Uses

This product caused many problems with keeping the wood snug against the floor and made sliding the wood into place nearly impossible. Each piece of wood needed to be manually placed by hand to avoid the underlayment from buckling and folding up underneath it. Would not recommend.

        Pros

        • slippery on top grippie on bottom
        • Thin and warm

        Cons

        • tears very easily, be careful.

        Best Uses

Exactly what I wanted and needed. Helps block sound and is still very thin. plastic on top makes preparing and doing the wood floor easy. I put it down in parallel with the joist nails and then the wood floor will be perpendicular. Also you can use permanent marker on top to mark your lines, instead of chalk. (Chalk lines will only work for a few minutes but won't stay on the plastic.)

I want to float a laminate click-install floor over a cement slab. However the slab isn't perfectly level. Can I "double up" in the low areas to level out things first, or is there another way to achieve the level starting point for my project?

              A:

I would not "double up" this cushion, you can use 30 lb. roofing felt to build up low areas or cement patching compound.

          • Q:

My installers are using the Eco sound underlayment on a wood sub floor on our second story. At the end of each piece there is a clear plastic strip about 2 inches wide. They are not cutting off the excess but leaving it and laying the next underlayment piece with the adhesive strip on top. We are hearing noise in the areas where the clear plastic is underneath the floor. Is this normal? Should the installer have been cutting off the excess clear plastic? He is going to proceed by cutting off the excess but for the areas that are already laid down, I may have him completely pull it up and redo it. Please let me know if you've had this issue and if you kept it this way, if the noisy plastic sound ever goes away!!!
