Beautiful flooring

We installed this flooring in our laundry room, kitchen and family room. It was quite a large space but installing this was a breeze. The whole project took less than 5 hours. The floors look fantastic too. We are very happy with the product

Service and delivery comments:

Product was ordered the day after Christmas and was ready for delivery within 5 days.

Pros

    Cons

    • does not click together as easy as it sounds

    Best Uses

installed in kitchen, dinning area, hallway, bathroom, laundry room, and entry
scratches easier than I was hoping, which is why we went with the vinyl rather than wood.
unfortunately it does show a slight height difference from one room to a hallway, which wood would not have shown.

      Happy with my purchase

I have kids and a dog. I wanted something I would really like but wouldn't have a heart attack if it got scratched. This is it! I put it in the living room. I was disappointed at first because it doesn't feel like real wood... but now I love it. It is quiet and I get complements all of the time when people come over. The color is pretty and it is elegant, but with a low cost. I made a good decision with this.

      love this product

      By none

      from burton, mich

smoothed out floor from original concrete to where we had some old peel & press tile. Laid the click & lock right over the top with the underlayment and you can't see or feel the slight difference in height. Hubby thought the color would be too dark in our basement, but it is just beautiful. Painted the walls white with one side and end wall a deep blue. What a difference the floor makes. Wish we had done it so many years ago. It took our son about 15 hours to lay close to 1000 square feet.

      Service and delivery comments:

men placed boxes in different areas of the basement for us. Job well done

      Great Look/Feel. Scratches easy

      Cons

      • Scratches Easy
      • Some Planks In Box Damage

      Best Uses

I install this in our living room and kitchen and plan to install in the rest of the house. The install was pretty easy. Definitely get the laminate tools to insure a tight fit. Small gaps would appear between the planks periodically after a tight fit so that was pretty annoying. After the install the floor looked beautiful. We asked all our guest to take off there shoes to keep the floor nice. However scratches started to appear more and more. Small rocks that people step on cause quite visible whitish marks. Pretty disappointing. Cleaning the floor with solution doesn't help to much. For that reason alone this product get 3/5 stars. Its beautifully scratch prone.

              • Replaced Carpet In Living

We used this with the underlayment to replace carpet in the living and dining areas. Installation instructions for tongue vs groove were not the clearest and it was a bit difficult to lay the first two lines, but after a rocky start, the rest of the installation was quick and smooth. We have had the product on the floor for just a few days; thus far it is very attractive, comfortable to walk on, and doesn't make a clicking sound.

                  A:

                  Yes it really is!
Concrete subfloors must be fully cured for at least 60 days. Concrete must be tested for moisture by conducting a Calcium Chloride test (ASTM F 1869) or Relative Humidity In-Situ Probe test (ASTM F 2170). Calcium Chloride test results cannot exceed 3lbs per 1000sqft in 24hrs. Relative Humidity In-Situ probe test should not exceed 75%.

I installed this product throughout my entire home. I now have two questions. Can I put a finish or sealer over the floor to prevent scratches? And what is the best method for repairing scratches? I am not very impressed with the scratch resistance of this flooring. We slid the plastic garbage can out of our pantry and it scratched the floor.

                  A:

Vinyl plank flooring can exhibit shrinking under extreme cold. The manufacturer recommends temperatures between 65-75F.

You can use an unfinished hardwood (preferably quarter/rift sawn) finished with tung or other natural oils as with covered porch flooring. These site finished penetrating sealers expand and contract with the flooring without cracking.

Can I put this flooring down without using underlay? I also plan to build a rolling island, large. Can I use that without damaging the floor?

Yes this can be installed over existing vinyl flooring and the Tranquility underlayment is optional.
Depending on the size, weight of the Island and the type of casters you used, perhaps.
Heavy rolling loads can cause separation of the planks.
