Morning Star Bamboo- 9/16" x 5-1/8" Weathered Chestnut Strand Stained Solid Handscraped Wire Brushed Bamboo Flooring- 30 Year Warranty

Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury.

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- Low Emission Adhesive
- Glue or Nail Down
- Premium Finish
- 30 Year Warranty

Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

It's simple...
Eco-Friendly. Beautiful look. Beautiful price.

  • Q:

I wanted to know proper care/cleaning instructions to help it last 30 years?
Asked on 4/26/2014 by Cheri from United States

    1 answer

For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Throw rugs with hardwood flooring acceptable backing are useful in high traffic areas like entrances. Sweep often. Dry mop.

Bellawood Cleaner works well (use as directed), find here -

In addition, Bona Kemi makes a decent hardwood flooring cleaner.

Do not use oil-type cleaner or wax of any kind.

  • Q:

Would you recommend this floor for use in a kitchen?

Hardwood, laminate (higher warranty laminate is better in high traffic areas like kitchens), cork, and bamboo is acceptable for installation in a kitchen, but we highly recommend you put a throw rug by the sink because an excess of water can damage any floor. These floorings are water resistant relative to normal spills but not water-proof. Any soaking spills will destroy any flooring with the exception of ceramic or stone tile. Thank you for your inquiry.

  • Q:

What is the age of the Moso bamboo before it is harvested?
Asked on 7/7/2013 by Brandt from Tulsa, OK

    1 answer

4 to 6 year old bamboo strips giving the bamboo the hardness it requires to perform properly as flooring material. Strips are of the best quality with no mould allowed.

  • Q:

The item we viewed at the store was named "Moso Wirebrushed Bamboo" yet the SKU and Item Code for that product point here, to "Handscraped," both in store and at this site. We like the look the the "wirebrushed" product sample which has a relatively smooth surface; we want to avoid the heavy 'lumps' associated with a handscraped product. Are these terms, "wirebrushed" and "handsraped," being used interchangably? If so, I will assume we just stumbled upon a relatively flat/smooth cross-section in the sample we saw. If not, can you please point me towards the Moso Wirebrushed Bamboo? We are apprehenisive to make this purchase until we know for sure.

    Thank you

  • Q:

Does bamboo stain to pet urine etc.?
Asked on 4/22/2013 by Amelia bedelia from St. Charles mo

    1 answer

Bamboo is sealed with 7 coats of Treffert or Klumpp (made in Germany) highly resistant polyurethane finish with aluminum oxide anti-scratch and a 55% gloss. This will repel most staining. Urine, when cleaned up quick isn't an issue but if left to dry it can burn finish.

  • Q:

Asked on 4/8/2013 by JOHN JACOBSON from SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO

    1 answer

Yes. Ceramic tile, if flat level and well secured, can accommodate any floating flooring or gluedown bamboo, engineered, or 1/2" and under solid.

You can glue to well secured flat level ceramic tile or concrete free of contaminates, moisture and sealers. When sealers are suspected you can have false bond issues; either abrade, scarify, or bead blast the finish or remove the existing tile.

  • Q:

I notice that there is not a baseboard available in Maso bamboo. Is this product usually only finished with a quarter round along the perimeter?
Asked on 2/6/2013 by Frank the Finisher

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

Unfortunately we do not carry a matching baseboard for every flooring product we sell, using a matching quarter round is the best way to trim-out this installation.
      Thank you for writing in.

Would this be a good product to install for a two dog house? Both dogs are 70-80 lbs and are pretty active.

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.
      Thank you for your inquiry.

  • Q:

Is the Moso Handscraped Bamboo a "Strand" Bamboo? Your specs say it's twice the hardness of Red Oak. Is that correct?
    Asked on 12/31/2012 by Anonymous

    1 answer

Yes this is a "Strand". It is 100% harder than red oak and will require a thin 18 gauge cleat for proper fastening.
