Lisbon Cork- 13/32" x 11-5/8" x 35-5/8" Rossio Cork Flooring

Quick Highlights:
DURABILITY - 50 year warranty same as traditional hardwood.
DESIGN - Architects, Designers and Home Owners love the color pallet and fashion patterns of cork.
COMFORT -  Cork is resilient which relives stress in the back and legs when standing on our floors.
WARMTH - Cork takes on the temperature of the room. Great for warm or cold climates.
QUIET - Cork is great for sound deadening due to the honeycomb cell structure of the bark. This reduces sound within the room as well as between floors in multi-level structures.
EASY MAINTENANCE -  Just sweep and spot clean for many years of use.

Lisbon Cork Co. Ltd. Fine Cork Flooring combines the beauty of a natural material with the comfort of a cushioned surface. It is durable, acoustical, and a great insulator.  The bark of the cork tree is peeled without destroying the tree and it grows back within nine years, ready to be harvested again. Warm to the touch and resilient, cork floors are a joy to live with. Cork is considered a green product because the same tree can be harvested numerous times.

Use of Underlayments:
Our Lisbon floating cork can be installed with or without an underlayment. However, superior thermal and sound isolation qualities can be achieved when installing over an underlayment. When doing so Lumber Liquidators recommends the use of the following underlayments: Bellawood Platinum, Bellawood Premium, ECO Silent Sound, Insulayment and Quiet Walk. These quality underlayments best support the locking joints and are highly recommended for use with condominium associations, project planners and building specifiers.

Beyond Beautiful

By Samantha

I did not seal the flooring because I wanted the matte look. I installed the floor by myself (a 5'2" female). I continue to get compliments. I am now renting out this apartment and I believe the cork flooring has increased the market value of the apartment. I recommend not sealing - no issues, even with spills.

looks great

Pros

  • Easy To Install
  • Looks great

Cons

  • Fragile edges

Best Uses

This is my first time installing any flooring. It wasn't as hard as some of the comments made me think it would be, but it was pretty tricky for the first few rows. Also, make sure you get your underlayment SUPER flat. I had some wrinkles and the floor sounded crinkly as I walked on it and I pulled it all up and started over 3/4 of the way through. It looks great. I am curious to see how the seams hold up over time -- there is a slight height difference between some of the tiles and I'm worried the edges will chip. But maybe it'll all even out with walking on it and I'm worried about nothing. The guys at my local Lumber Liquidators have been great with talking me through the installation, carrying the flooring to my car, etc.

This was the first time installing a cork floor, it looks awesome and was a breeze to install. I finished a 10x13 bedroom in less than 2 hours and it looks great. Seams snap together tight with no issues. The only negative I would say is the way the floor is packaged. Out of 6 boxes I had 6 boards damaged.

Had no trouble with the floor until my hot water heater broke and flooded the bathroom. Luckly it only ruined a few pieces. Other than that no problems.

We installed this in our kitchen in our older home. In trying to recapture the era of the home as it would have originally been, this seemed to fit the bill. We liked the texture of the floor and how soft it is to stand on. We had a few test pieces that we used for a few months to test wear and tear. We actually dropped knives, keys, screws, jars and miscellaneous other kitchen type items on it and were impressed with the recovery it had. Unlike tile, this flooring is a little more forgiving- and certainly easier to install. While the cork itself is fragile around the edges, we found it easier to use a piece of the flooring as our pound block instead of a click-lock install kit. We also used a rubber mallet for install against this piece. We didn't have any pieces destroyed or otherwise marred by using this process. We'll see how it wears, as the edges of the cork seem to create a raised area where we are concerned we might catch with shoes, socks or the broom/swiffer during cleaning.

Looks Great - We Just Hope It Holds Up!

            Best Uses

This cork flooring looks great when complete but it can be quite the task to install. We found that if you use like a wood block (we used a small piece of the cork flooring itself) held up against the edge then hit it with the hammer it helps to lock it in. You have to be sure to get it completely locked so the seams are tight. It becomes easier the more you get installed. It looks great now but we worry about hitting the seams with our shoes and chipping a piece of the cork. We are also worried about it denting from furniture being on it so we have bought an area rug for the room. I am hoping that we are worrying for nothing and it holds up forever. We questioned using polyurethane on it but we heard this will void the warranty if you do so therefore we chose not to. You won't be dissapointed in the look and feel of it when walking on it.

We searched and searched for almost a year to find the perfect floors to fit our life style, and the Rossio Cork was the way to go, we have a large dog (105 lbs) and with every other floor, the dogs nails would scratch and gouge the surface, and from the dog weight of the dog and the size of the nails, all other floors (including stranded bamboo) would get these little dents in the floor, and in high traffic areas this meant that the coating on the floor would crack and flake and peel off the floor. We heard about cork and everything we had read said that it was naturally water resistant, (pet stains are a thing of the past), it added insulation value (noticeable right away), it added sound proofing, (I would not say proofing as much as extreme sound muffling from out side noises), and we also read that it gives cushion to the floor (which I have to admit, I was very skapticale as we had carpet prior, and I like having soft floors to walk on.) but I was very surprised at the fact that I do not feel like I am walking of a wood floor, it has some give (not much but enough to make a noticeable difference). this was the best purchase we made for our renovation. the guys at the Slidell store were a big help, they even loaded the 22 boxes into the Prius, (surprised them big time, lol. thanks guys.

So far so good with this floor. It provides a nice, cushioned surface for working out, and doesn't get damaged if we accidentally drop a weight.

Yes, Cork is acceptable for installation in a kitchen. It is recommend to put a throw rug by the sink because any excess water can damage wood. You will need to wipe up any water that sits on the floor as soon as possible.
