Steamed bamboo, caramelizing the sugar within to change its color.

Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

It's simple...
Eco-Friendly. Beautiful look. Beautiful price.

  • Q:

What does Low Emission Adhesive mean? Is the floor emitting odor or chemicals for a period of time or during it's life?

The adhesive that is used in bonding our Bamboo, Cork, Engineered, and Laminate flooring products contain very low amounts of Urea Formaldehyde. We feel that our products are very safe and most meet California CARB Phase I or California Phase II regulations, which is listed on the boxes. We also list MSDS sheets for most of these products on the Lumber Liquidators website “Flooring 101”.

  • Q:

Can this floor be installed on a slab above grade in high traffic restaurant?
Asked on 5/5/2013 by Ron from Newport News Va.

    1 answer

This flooring can be installed over contaminant and moisture free concrete slabs. Bamboo flooring can be refinished by refinishers experienced in bamboo. Because this is not one of our floors I cannot vouch for its durability in a high-traffic restaurant. Unfortunately I do not have all of the information on this product since it is a special buy. I would ask that you contact our sales dept. for more detailed information. There number is (800) 476-0007  Thank you for your inquiry.

Unfortunately the only way to install this product in a basement would be using our Elastilon underlayment system.

  • Q:

If this product is scratched or chipped, can it be sanded and refinished or is it to thin. Have young kids and know it would take a beating.
Asked on 4/20/2013 by Bogie from Minnesota

    1 answer

If needed, bamboo flooring can be fully re-sanded and finished about three times as any other species

A typical floor sanding involves using a special (drum) floor sander, edger, and a buffer/ polisher with a disc attachment for holding sand paper and buffing pads. The sanding procedure starts with a course of medium grit sand paper. After sanding the entire floor, repeat with a medium grit and complete sanding with a fine grit sand paper. This produces a fine surface and is ready for finishing.

However, because bamboo is a grass it tends to get “fuzzy”, “burns” or heats-up faster during sanding. Using a medium grit paper, approach sanding at a slight angle to the grain direction then graduating down to fine course, similar to sanding soft yellow Pine.

In most cases, a full sanding is usually not required, just a “buff & re-coat” or “screening & re-coating”. Buff & re-coat is light sanding using an industrial type buffer that removes surface scratches, cleans, and prepares the floor for new top finishes. This procedure really depends how the floor was used or abused. In general, high traffic areas; kitchen-dinette would need to be re-coated sooner than a bedroom or formal dining room. If your floors have been treated with any “non-hardwood friendly products” such as; waxes or has heavy wear patterns, or has lots of dents, then it would need to be fully refinished (Sand & Finish).

The techniques of sanding and finishing bamboo do require higher skills and are best left to professionals.
