I love how this floor turned out great, and was easy to install. Everyone who has come over since we put in it was surprised that we did it ourselves, which is always a great compliment.

      Service and delivery comments:

It was a busy day when we went to pick up our flooring, so be prepared to wait. Also, the wood weights more than we expected so be prepared for that.

Cleats not staples. Hickory is extremely hard so keep the compressor turned up higher than average.

I am thrilled with the way the floor looks in the kitchen and how well it is fitting up next to the hardwood in the diningroom even though they are different colors. I was looking for the contrast with the red oak and this is working out perfectly!

I was overall impressed with the flooring. I did no more than 3 unusable boards when installing over 600 sqft. It looks incredible laying down. It was the first time I installed hardwood floors and it was very easy.

We are really thrilled with these floors. The sample in the store doesn't do them justice. The boxes have wonderful variations in the color, and a lot of long boards. The only con so far... We have had a few that were missing the "groove" or the "tongue." The install is still in-progress, so we cannot attest to how well they will wear, but they sure are pretty.

                  A:

Engineered may be a better choice however the manufacturer of both require that HVAC systems regulate humidity to the levels recommended by the manufacturer. This is simply because of the nature of wood and how it is affected by humidity.

"For best performance, wood flooring should be one of the last items installed. (HVAC) Heating, Ventilation and or Air conditioning systems should be fully operating and running with temperature between 60F and 80F, with humidity between 30% and 50%"

                  A:

                  Flatness
All subfloors should be flat to within 3/16" in 10 feet or 1/8" in 6 feet radius. Wood subfloors must be securely nailed or screwed to
joists to minimize movement or squeaks. Install over 16"minimum center-to-center joist sub-structure. Thoroughly inspect and replace
existing floor or subfloor that shows evidence of water damage or structural weakness. Repair any sagging or loose sections of a wood
subflooring. Squeaky or loose boards should be re-secured. An uneven or cupped subfloor can be an indication of excess moisture or
rot, identify and correct. High spots/joist may be sanded down. Low spots should be cut out and repaired or may be filled with old
pieces of firm vinyl or build up with 30 lb. black roofing paper. Do not fill-in low areas under naildown flooring with cement patching
materials as these may break down over time.
New construction; It is the builder's or general contractor's responsibility to provide the wood flooring contractor with a subfloor that is
within the tolerances listed above. Postpone the installation until corrections have been completed. You can find complete installation instructions on the product page by clicking on the installation tab and then clicking on - Installation Guide.

We can only recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes. Never use any polish, wax, oil soaps or cleaners that add shine to the floor. In addition, we do not recommend using steamers or wet-jet cleaning systems for hardwood because spraying can collect moisture in between board edges. The use of these products is at your own risk.

Any floor has the potential to scratch so it is up to the homeowner to help pervent scratches by taking preventive steps like having a no shoe policy in the home, putting covers over pet claws, using felt tips under furniture, and never slide furniture over the flooring. These steps will help you prevent a majority of scratches that could occur.

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

Yes. When installing hardwood flooring over hardwood flooring the board direction must be perpendicular to the existing floor direction or run on a diagonal. New boards run in the same direction would require additional 3/8 plywood. If you wish to run parallel add another 3/8" CDX Plywood. Plywood needs to be layed with 1/8" gaps for expansion and use ring shank nails on a 6-7 inch pattern over floor joist. Liquid Nail between is an good idea too but not completely necessary.
