EXMORE EX3 Pro +

Adhesive and Moisture Control for Hardwood Flooring

DESCRIPTION

EXMORE EX3 Pro + has been specifically designed to provide a moisture barrier that will protect your wood-floor investment from damage caused by moisture vapor coming through a concrete subfloor. EXMORE EX3 Pro + combines all the power of a high-performance, 100%-solids, moisture-curing polyurethane adhesive with the ability to control moisture up to 15 lbs. (6,80 kg) MVER and 95% RH.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

  • Protects flooring from subfloor moisture damage
  • Superior bond strength and elasticity

USES

  • For installing all types of solid and wood flooring

SUITABLE SUBSTRATES

APA or CANPLY Group 1 exterior-rated plywood and other approved wood underlayments; concrete and properly prepared cement terrazzo; existing and properly prepared ceramic tile; exterior-rated, cement-based self-leveling underlayments and patching compounds; epoxy-based moisture-reduction barriers; and radiant-heat systems.

LIMITATIONS

Do not install over any substrates containing asbestos. For interior installations only. Not recommended for flooring designed for nail-down installations only. Do not install when the moisture vapor emission rating (MVER) exceeds 15 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. (6,80 kg per 92,9 m 2 ) per 24 hours, according to ASTM F1869. Do not install when the relative humidity (RH) of the concrete slab exceeds 95%, according to ASTM F2170. Concrete slabs exceeding 15 lbs. (6,80 kg) MVER or 95% RH should be treated with a moisture vapor reduction product. Use only when the substrate temperature is between 50F and 90F (10C and 32C), and when the ambient RH is between 20% and 80%.

SURFACE PREPARATION

All substrates must be structurally sound, dry, solid and stable. The substrate should be clean and free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, paint, curing agents, concrete sealers, loosely bonded toppings, loose particles, old adhesive residues, and any other substance or condition that may prevent or reduce adhesion. Substrates must be flat to 3/16" in a 10-ft. span (4,5 mm in a 3,05-m span). Refer to the wood-flooring manufacturer's guidelines. Concrete and cement-based underlayments and patches must be fully cured and free of any hydrostatic and/or moisture problems. Use a moisture meter to check the RH of the wood flooring, surface of the substrate, and general jobsite area. Follow the flooring manufacturer's guidelines.

APPLICATION

Read all installation instructions thoroughly prior to installation. Wear all appropriate personal safety equipment during use. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet for more information.

1.    Remove the special clips found inside the bucket, select the correct clip per flooring thickness (see the "Trowel Recommendations and Approximate Coverage" charts) and attach to a standard 11" (28 cm) trowel.

2.    Using the flat side of the trowel, key adhesive into the subfloor to create a smooth, void-free surface.

3.    Once the adhesive has been keyed in, immediately spread the adhesive using the special clip-on trowel attachment. Trowel ridge lines should be perpendicular to the wood-flooring installation direction. Hold the trowel at a 60 to 90 angle to the subfloor, making sure that the subfloor is covered 100% with adhesive and no void spots appear other than the "valley bottoms" created by the trowel; these areas will fill in as the wood is installed.

4.    Only apply as much adhesive as can be installed within 45 to 60 minutes.

5.    Install wood flooring in strict accordance with the flooring manufacturer's written instructions.

6.    Install flooring immediately, pressing firmly into the adhesive bed to ensure that all ridges are compressed into a monolithic layer.

7.    Make every effort to prevent the adhesive from getting onto the flooring surface. Remove adhesive smudges immediately using mineral spirits and a white cotton cloth. Change out cleanup rags often.

8.    Clean tools while the adhesive is still fresh/wet using mineral spirits.

NOTE: Use a fresh clip-on trowel attachment for each bucket of EXMORE EX3 Pro +. DO NOT REUSE THE TROWEL. Proper coverage is paramount for warranty coverage. Do not stand or kneel on freshly installed wood flooring, as adhesive can ooze up between joints and flooring slip out of alignment.

PROTECTION

  • Protect from light traffic for at least 12 hours. Protect from heavy traffic for at least 24 hours.
  • Building owners should be advised of the wood-flooring manufacturer's guidelines for climate-control settings (temperature and humidity). These conditions must be monitored and kept constant in order to ensure the overall performance and long-term success of the installation.

* Flash Time: Amount of time recommended for the adhesive to remain exposed to the air following application before the installation of floor covering.

** Working Time: The maximum amount of time an adhesive can remain exposed to the air and still effectively bond to the floor covering.

*** Adjustability Time: The window of time when adjustments can still be made to the position of the floor covering without compromising the bond of the adhesive.

NOTE: Working time and adjustment times vary based on temperature, humidity, substrate porosity, trowel size and jobsite conditions.
