Lawrence Xu to Lead Compliance Efforts in Asia

By Ray Cotton, Lumber Liquidators’ Chief Compliance & Sustainability Officer

Lawrence Xu will be joining Lumber Liquidators next month to lead our compliance efforts in Asia with a particular focus on ethical sourcing, new and existing product development and vendor selection. He will be working out of our Shanghai office. Lawrence’s arrival demonstrates our dedication to continuous improvement in our processes and our commitment to our sustainability objectives.

My colleagues and I are excited about Lawrence’s expertise, insight and passion regarding both the environment and responsible forestry management. Most recently, he served as the Compliance Director for Metsä, a forest industry group whose products’ main raw material is renewable and sustainably grown Nordic wood. He also spent 7 years as Section Head for SGS, a leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company recognized as a global benchmark for quality and integrity. Lawrence’s past compliance and auditing experiences will be a great addition to our compliance team.

Lawrence holds a Bachelor Degree in International Finance from the University of International Business and Economy in addition to a Bachelor Degree in International Economics from Peking University.

In the months ahead, Lawrence will author his own blog posts to offer a practical perspective into his work, as well its benefits for the environment, our customers and Lumber Liquidators.
